Isca Greenfield-Sanders’ large-scale oil paintings and watercolors are based on found images from the 1950's and 60's. Her primary interest is the figured landscape and its relationship to memory—how universally recognizable places (beaches, family picnics, poolside scenes) can evoke both deeply personal and communal memories and associations.
Isca Greenfield-Sanders, both an alumna and parent at Grace, was born in 1978 in New York City's East Village. She has had solo exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver; Haunch of Venison, New York and London; Goff + Rosenthal, New York: John Berggruen Gallery, San Francisco; Galerie Klüser, Munich; Baldwin Gallery, Aspen; and MoMA PS 1, LIC. Her work is included in many private and public collections including The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, NYC; The Brooklyn Museum; The Museum of Fine Arts Houston; The Israel Museum, Jerusalem; and The Museum Morsbroich in Germany.
